Down The Line

December 2021.

Here we are again.

It’s cold.

There’s so much excitement in the air.

You can also feel it, surely.

December is a time to celebrate. Work, friends, family, we all get together to cheers for a great year that has past, and a great year that is yet to come. I love this festive period. I love the vibe, I love the lights, I love the carols, I love the shopping, I love the parties, and of course, I love the outfits. It’s the best time to shine!

Feathers, diamanté's, sequins, pearls, embellishments everywhere! There’s no wrong answer this time of the year and that fills me with joy.

This time, I had organised a little Christmas soiree with my friends to get things started for the Christmas period, and I wanted to mark the occasion with something special.

As I was looking at my wardrobe choices, I realised that I wanted something new, something to have fun with. Equally, I didn’t want to buy something I would wear once and then forget about it, or break the bank trying to get something special. Thankfully for my wallet or the planet, those days are over, as friends like HURR and By Rotation are by our side to come to the rescue.

In this occasion, a beautiful Cult Gaia Silk Feather dress (worth 1000GBP!!), was waiting to be rented for the weekend. And it cost me 55 pounds. Yup, you heard it, 55 pounds.

Who could say no to that? I was so excited, I popped in my lucky gold shoes and pairing bag (which I found for 4 pounds in Oxfam in Dalston!) and I went touring the city, taking pictures, as if a Hollywood star.

I guess I can tick that off my London to-do list.

Happy Holidays,

Buying clothes that aren't black is sometimes a challenge. However, I don't know what's happened to me lately but all I want to do is wear simple but BOLD outfits. Color-blocking, mainly. Reds, Yellows, Purples, and today, as we speak, BRIGHT YELLOW.

Worry not! Pantone has decided bright yellow is the color of 2021 (along with Pandemic grey, boo) so if anything I think my color choice was rather appropiate today! And even if it weren’t that’s also ok. As long as we enjoy ourselves that’s all it matters. Plus turning heads it's one of my favourite past times in London.

My dear careless readers, how are we doing today? I write to you after a long ride in the city and boy oh boy it feels good to be back on my jogging pants in the sweet home heat! It’s been a while since we’ve been in contact, so I just wanted to catch up with you on some recent life realisations.

Have you ever thought about color therapy?

This is something that crossed my mind recently. For those who know me, this may come as no surprise. I love color. I live through it. Which is why it is interesting that it had never ocurred to me that something so simple as colour could affect your mood so dramatically.

How many times do you feel like pulling an “all black everything” outfit in the middle of the winter cold vs. a hot sunny summer day? Every little detail in your daily wear, from the nail colour you use to the coat you take for a walk, signals your mood state. It is as if we subconsciously wanted to show the world how we were feeling that day.

Color can affect your mood and the mood of others, which is why I have started pulling off even more crazy outfits lately. I like to feel good and I want others to feel good! Colours make me smile and I want those around me to smile with me too.

Chromotherapy, or color therapy, is an alternative science that uses color and light to treat physical or mental health such us as anxiety and stress. Now I am not telling you that this will work for you or whether you need to believe in it, but certainly something to take into account as it has definitely helped me just by turning up wearing a funky outfit on a gray-ish day. What have you got to loose?

spice up your life (as a good spice girl fan would say) and bring all the colours from your wardrobe together!

My latest adventure with colour, one that was unexpected and decided upon the last hours of me heading home for the Christmas holidays is the one you see here today. One that I love, and that I will repeat again and again and again whenever I feel good or whenever I feel moody, outdoors and indoors.

Psst - Also, that GORGEOUS skirt you see on screen is vintage! Can you believe?.Found in a little stall by Hackney Central and made of silk fabric. I could not be happier. Let’s be conscious for the planet whilst loving fashion.

Til next time careless readers,

Hello careless readers, how have you been doing?

It’s an early morning today and we’ve come to Covent Garden to have brekkie and explore the city before it wakes up. To our surprise, as we walk along the now empty Covent Garden Market, we find this old-school piano lying around beautifully full of blossoming flowers. What a great picture set, am I right? Such a bummer the piano was so out of tune (even some keys were broken!) but it did bring to mine the good times of playing the piano and studying music when I was little.

The music world is a competitive one, and I’ve always felt that it enabled me to multitask, be competitive but also to understand others better. Not to mention it made my love for music even bigger! I still have my piano back home, which I’ve been terribly missing lately as I would get back to playing again. Thankfully I’ve got a little someone who can help me with that over in London :) Now I just need to have the discipline I use to have! I feel when you stop playing you get out of practice and confidence very quickly, and I used to suffer a lot of stage freight back in the day…either way, it always has a warm space in my heart.

Now back to my #outfitrole today. I’ve been feeling more and more proud of being Spanish lately, I feel it’s something that happens more often when you live home to live abroad. Its roots, its music, its food, and above all the people and its characters/ behaviours…is the best! So I thought, why not dress up representing my heritage? I feel very flamenca. OLE!
