Down The Line

December 2021.

Here we are again.

It’s cold.

There’s so much excitement in the air.

You can also feel it, surely.

December is a time to celebrate. Work, friends, family, we all get together to cheers for a great year that has past, and a great year that is yet to come. I love this festive period. I love the vibe, I love the lights, I love the carols, I love the shopping, I love the parties, and of course, I love the outfits. It’s the best time to shine!

Feathers, diamanté's, sequins, pearls, embellishments everywhere! There’s no wrong answer this time of the year and that fills me with joy.

This time, I had organised a little Christmas soiree with my friends to get things started for the Christmas period, and I wanted to mark the occasion with something special.

As I was looking at my wardrobe choices, I realised that I wanted something new, something to have fun with. Equally, I didn’t want to buy something I would wear once and then forget about it, or break the bank trying to get something special. Thankfully for my wallet or the planet, those days are over, as friends like HURR and By Rotation are by our side to come to the rescue.

In this occasion, a beautiful Cult Gaia Silk Feather dress (worth 1000GBP!!), was waiting to be rented for the weekend. And it cost me 55 pounds. Yup, you heard it, 55 pounds.

Who could say no to that? I was so excited, I popped in my lucky gold shoes and pairing bag (which I found for 4 pounds in Oxfam in Dalston!) and I went touring the city, taking pictures, as if a Hollywood star.

I guess I can tick that off my London to-do list.

Happy Holidays,

Casual Christmas Attire

Hello careless readers,

This 2020 Christmas is certainly a little bit different than most years. Most of us are stuck or may be stuck at home with limited mobility, and it is almost a given that we will not take our nice outfits for a spin, but I hate to think that’s going to be the case! In fact, I refuse to think so and will not abide to the circumstances.

If there is anything that being at home this year has shown me is that we need to make the most of what we’ve got, whatever the circumstances are. What can I say, I own a lot of clothes, and I LOVE wearing them all, so why not trying making the most of it? Finding a new outfit to wear everyday gives me life and kind of purpose? It takes me to another world, sometimes even a different persona, I am a little bit crazy like that. For that reason, and because I am a bit of a shopaholic, I kept on researching and even buying! new outfits to wear during lockdown. Let me tell you, it’s been fun.

Like many have said (and I like to quote Vogue in this occasion), for those who love fashion, dressing up can be very powerful. Just because you are at home doesn’t mean you have to be wearing PJs all day and making an effort to look nice will enhance your creative thinking and put you in a nicer mood, fact.

Now I understand this is a tough call when all you do is move around your own apartment, and I understand it is much more comfy to stay on those cozy cotton jogging pants than a pair of tights (even if they are SKIMS) and a tight skirt but don’t forget it is Christmas! A time to celebrate. You know, you want it, you just need a little push. Ditch those pants and put your slip dress on!

You can go OTT and put or your glam, shiny outfits that are crying out to be dressed or you if you are only half convinced, you can go for a hybrid version, like the one I opted for on one of the last outings in London before the Holidays.

Who would have thought that a lumberjack shirt and a slip dress would fit so nicely?

Take care folks,

Some feared this trend dialing up but to be honest, I am loving it. Bring on the fluor! And if it’s a yellow-y color (or rather, lime) it’s even better.

Whether it’s in my clothes or in flashing lights, I love neon. And in a city like London, where grey reigns your everyday life, you need some color to jazz things up. Why not make that color fluor?

I agree not all colors would be flattering in this instance, but a yellow or a green neon #OOTD can look pretty badass, if you choose right.

On my last trip home to Barcelona, I had a mum-daughter shopping day (our favorite kind of day) and we’ve encountered many high street shops rocking those colors. So we caved in. And here’s the result! Mix and match and you’ll be the queen of street fashion. And yes, I have a snoopy bag.

I LOVE IT!

WHAT I WORE:

Countess Dracula

Today my outfit role reminds me of many things. As I see the sun come out for the first time in a week (London you are really tough to us sometimes!), all of a sudden I felt like a vampire about to melt. I think the combination of the long dress and coat and the sharp coldness of the day made me think of myself as Dracula’s bride. Worry not, I don’t bite.

As the day evolved and I unveiled my dress, another thought creep out. I was no longer thirsty for blood, but rather a creature of nature, mother of all. The green and nude hues made me think of the forest, and all of a sudden I felt like a guardian of it. Isn’t it wonderful to think that one outfit can bring so much imagination to life?

Funky Suit Medina

I think I’ve mentioned this many times, but I don’t mind reiterating myself once more. Working at an office does not mean you can wear fun stuff, on the contrary, go crazy! I love wearing pieces that can work in and out of work, and have a bit of a different touch on the “smart casual” look. Here goes an example! Rock up to work on this Topshop marvel (which at the moment is on SALE!!) and then headed for drinks with the girls at B&H.

Quirky cocktails for a funky outfit. What else?
