Down The Line

December 2021.

Here we are again.

It’s cold.

There’s so much excitement in the air.

You can also feel it, surely.

December is a time to celebrate. Work, friends, family, we all get together to cheers for a great year that has past, and a great year that is yet to come. I love this festive period. I love the vibe, I love the lights, I love the carols, I love the shopping, I love the parties, and of course, I love the outfits. It’s the best time to shine!

Feathers, diamanté's, sequins, pearls, embellishments everywhere! There’s no wrong answer this time of the year and that fills me with joy.

This time, I had organised a little Christmas soiree with my friends to get things started for the Christmas period, and I wanted to mark the occasion with something special.

As I was looking at my wardrobe choices, I realised that I wanted something new, something to have fun with. Equally, I didn’t want to buy something I would wear once and then forget about it, or break the bank trying to get something special. Thankfully for my wallet or the planet, those days are over, as friends like HURR and By Rotation are by our side to come to the rescue.

In this occasion, a beautiful Cult Gaia Silk Feather dress (worth 1000GBP!!), was waiting to be rented for the weekend. And it cost me 55 pounds. Yup, you heard it, 55 pounds.

Who could say no to that? I was so excited, I popped in my lucky gold shoes and pairing bag (which I found for 4 pounds in Oxfam in Dalston!) and I went touring the city, taking pictures, as if a Hollywood star.

I guess I can tick that off my London to-do list.

Happy Holidays,

Countess Dracula

Today my outfit role reminds me of many things. As I see the sun come out for the first time in a week (London you are really tough to us sometimes!), all of a sudden I felt like a vampire about to melt. I think the combination of the long dress and coat and the sharp coldness of the day made me think of myself as Dracula’s bride. Worry not, I don’t bite.

As the day evolved and I unveiled my dress, another thought creep out. I was no longer thirsty for blood, but rather a creature of nature, mother of all. The green and nude hues made me think of the forest, and all of a sudden I felt like a guardian of it. Isn’t it wonderful to think that one outfit can bring so much imagination to life?
