Where's your butler?

Those who know me well, know that I am not thaaat much of a lush person. However, I do love my deluxe moments, from time to time. My two objectives in life is to get a chauffeur and a personal cook, after all. DREAM BIG?

I can't believe it's been 4 years since I moved to London. It seems it was yesterday when I packed my bags and move to the city of lust. But here I am, writing you for the first time this year, to talk about one of my first big checks of the year: THE RITZ.

I particularly do not think I will be going there on a regular basis, because (a) it's too far from my hood and (b) it doesn't feel like something you would do on a your average day. Having said that, our experience was a delight.

The Ritz, the epitome of of luxury, does not fail to disappoint. We dressed up for the occasion, of course; but so did everybody there, including the waiters. Dress to impress, they say! We certainly felt like ladies.

Customer service was excellent and so was each one of our afternoon tea treats. 6 different finger sandwiches and a mouthwatering selection of sweets, both refilled as you indulge them definitely made us feel like princess piggies. Empowered princess piggies, though.

After catching up and gossiping all afternoon, we finished up by a walk around New Bond St, thinking about what will the next guilty pleasure in our closet.

Definitely a day to remember,

HAPPY NEW YEAR, CARELESS READERS!

Everyday that passes I believe more that #AgeIsJustANumber. Probably to my benefit, since I am turning 30 this year, ha!

I think of fashion, and I feel the same rule applies. Come to think of it, we are actually going backwards. My beloved 90s are everywhere I go, and it seems to be a trend that is here to stay, at least for a while.

So, I decided to sit back, relax, and take it all in. After all, that's my era, and I could care less about what people say, 90s were awesome. Logos? Check. Mom Jeans? Check. Lolita Sunglasses? Why not. More Logos? Hell yes! Result: what you have below.

For a city that never sleeps and it’s always busy, I find its transportation methods always fail to excel. At least, if I compare it to my beloved London.

What can I say, finding your way to the right subway platform is certainly not easy and neither are waiting times. Looong! I guess some of us have been spoiled on the other side of the pond...

Funny enough there’s plenty of yellow taxis to fix that, but they are all taken when you really wanna grab one on the spot, ha! So much for those uber haters...

In any case, regardless of this #firstworldproblems that we take on our everyday lives, I love feeling like a busy bee in the city. Puts me right in character, one that has plenty of power and energy.

Life is tricky babies, stay in your magic.

I bloody love New York, this is certainly one of those cities that irradiates inspiration, at least to me.

Whenever I visit this city, I always come home with plenty of ideas I want to take on board, and that’s so refreshing. The people you meet here, the adventures you encounter...there’s no place like New York.

That not only translates to ideas, but also to my fashion sense. On a recent blog post I told about outfit roles. Well, in this occasion I just felt like I was Jenny from the Block, so I tried to think what I would wear if I were singing ‘All I Have’ with Ll Cool JJ. Here’s the result. Also a good combo between Matrix and Clueless, but more badass.

Hope you like it, I love it.

New York truly is the city that never sleeps. No matter what you do, you’ll be able to get your tattoo done at 1AM or have that prescription filled at Duane Reade at 4,30AM before heading home.

There’s something about wondering the streets of New York late at night. Neon lights, buzzing vibe, take-out food, yellow taxis … CHAOS, and I love it.

Chinatown is one of those areas that is open 24/7, and the adventures that can happen around this neighbourhood always live up to my expectations. It feels as if the city is asking me to misbehave, and I am so easily convinced…Not that I am going to give away any of those stories now, some things are best kept secret.

But what I will say is that there’s a reason why we all heart this city, from the personal stories it gives us from nights out in town to the local haunts the day after. Specially, if you are in good company. You know it, right?

Kinky Boots

Photo 15-10-2017, 13 57 11.jpg

Ever since I watched Kinky Boots at the theatre in The West End, I’ve been wanting some red boots in my wardrobe. Lucky me, that’s what the industry has been craving for too, so I had plenty of options where to choose from.

Velvet, suede, leather, satin…what’s your fave? Aside from being pocket size, I personally think my legs are quite sporty, which means the tighter the boots the better! So, I finally succumbed to the sock trend…and I must say, I am loving the results.

These boots went for a walk throughout the city over the weekend, and I must admit that wherever they went, they were a killer. I know it’s quite a statement to wear these, but you’ll feel like a different character wearing them. I certainly did. And when in doubt, dance it out!

Autumn is here, and despite what everybody says, I quite like it. There’s fall leaves everywhere (have you walk through a park yet? SO FUN!), lots of pumpkin and chestnut dishes and warm cider is starting to make its appearances. YIKES! Not to mention those cosy nights at the pub…C’mon guys, what’s not to like?

As I was touring the streets of West London over the weekend (which seems so far now that I live in Dalston), we passed through Kynance Mews and couldn’t help but take some nice pictures there. I envy (and pitty) the people who live in such beautiful places, do you think they get annoyed by the amount of people standing at their door taking photos? I wonder.

I am enjoying taking on more relaxed looks lately. Less high heels and more kitten heels, jeans and a comfy shirt. Always Frida Nipple, though. That does not change.

In any case, walking around these clean white streets reminded me how pretty this side of the city is. I miss it sometimes.

Braveheart

IMG_4832.JPG
Untitled.jpg

People don't like to talk about things that make them sad. I am the first one to admit it. You'll catch me in very little moments where I am not switched on 100%, like a fairy flying from one place to the other.

Everybody is entitled to feel anxious, scared, sad, upset. We live in a world where fitting in is difficult, specially since all we do these days works around social recognition/ feeling accepted, even if that means not being yourself to achieve it.

Don't let what others say ruin your day. As William Wallace once said (yes, this is BRAVEHEART OK!): Your heart is free, have the courage to follow it. Feeling like saying I love you to someone? Do it. Don't be scared. Feeling like crying cause something has gone wrong? Let it all out. You Only Live Once, my friend. Better Live It Fully.

TCB xx

P.S: Yes, I am being very dramatic (my period is coming) but wearing this Patriot look made me think of Braveheart and all of a sudden those inspirational quotes came to mind. So yes, LOVE Y'ALL!!
