The Holiday

I LOVE CHRISTMAS. It's the most wonderful time of the year, It´s the happiest season of all!

It is funny to see how different Christmas can be considering where you are. London is full of decorations and the whole city is engaged on making you feel festive (and spending lots of money, obvs). It is the perfect city to be during this time of the year. Barcelona is also super pretty over xmas however it can't really compete with the big city. Its charm, nevertheless, beats anything. Global warming has also helped and I am currently writing you while sipping cola and toasting at the beach. It's nearly 20 degrees over here! Being home is great at the moment.

As I previously mentioned there are certain neighbourhoods in Barcelona which I love and haven't talked about yet, one of them being Born. The district was a commercial hub during medieval times and you can still see its architecture nowadays. I guess this is one of the reasons why I like it so much. It is full of little alleys, small shops, bars and lots of culture. You can literally get lost around it and discover so much every single time. I don't think there's anything more exciting than that.

If you ask me where are my fave spots are it would be very difficult to choose but I would definitely highlight the following to check out if you are out and about the area:

  • If it is culture what you are after then you should have a look at Picasso Museum (a must), the European Museum of Modern Art (hosted at a Medieval Palace) or the newly created Centre Cultural El Born, where you can find out about Barcelona during the 1700.
  • If it is food & drinks what you are looking for, I'd suggest trying Bar del Pla for traditional tapas (hello black squid croquettes!), El Mosquito or RedAnt for an excellent and different asian meal or Bascula for the veggie lovers. Then I would head towards Passeig del Born to relish great cocktails. Numeronueve and Miramelindo are pretty damn good options, to name few.
  • If you would like a different shopping experience, you've come to the right place. Around Carrer del Rec you'll find lots if different and alternative shops such as Dr Bloom, but my advice is to just get lost here. I've found the best shops around the area by just doing so.

As I am home for the holidays the fam and I decided to have a walk through the neigborhood Of course it's the christmas holidays so you need to dress up for the occasion. You know how much I love food (specially sea food) so I think this outfit says it all.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL PEOPLE!
