Madrid Insta-Travel Diaries

What's best than working where your friends are? That was me travelling three times in less than two months to Madrid. Let me tell you, it was exhausting...but so much fun! I've got many many friends in the city so working there was just the perfect excuse to keep up with everybody.

Even though there is this myth of rivalry between Barcelona & Madrid (mainly political) I love this city. Classic, Majestic, Major, Pretty...that's what defines Madrid to me. They have also been trying to up their game and provide very select (and trendy) foodie spots as well as hipster fashion neighborhoods, which was also great to experience.

In one of those experiences, we wandered around Malasaña. My fave fashion trail here is to get off at Bilbao Tube Station and walk all the way down from Fuencarral until Gran Via. The amount of fashion here is to die for! And there's always something new to discover in those little streets surrounding the area. Not everything is that commercial, promise!

For foodies, my favourite spots are around Alonso Martinez area. Mama Framboise is THE BEST for cute and yummy sweets (macarons, eclairs, cakes...you name it) and Lady Madonna for a delicious lunch. Only 10 minutes away from Lady Madonna you'll find Gourmet Experience Serrano, the sort-of-new rooftop terrace from El Corte Ingles Department Store.

Trying to upgrade their old-fashion status, they've teamed up with some of the best chefs in Spain to provide cheaper versions of michelin-star cuisine. I had the opportunity to try Rocambolesc's ice-cream and it was delicious! Not to mention it is all about the experience. They had cotton candy on ice cream. And a asparagus flavour?!

To finish off a good day out in Madrid it is always nice to walk around El Retiro. Such a beautiful place cannot be missed!
