Brunch Addiction hits Barcelona
/If there is anything I enjoy as much as going to hotel rooftops is having a good brunch. No matter where you are, if the raw materials and the customer service is good then I am happy. At my hometown, Barcelona, having brunch is fairly a new thing. It started probably a couple of years ago and now everybody is on board. Everyday there are more and more places where you can indulge yourself into some real treats, so I thought I should spread the word with you guys.
As I said, there are plenty of places where you can go. However, not to spoil you with too many options, I've chosen one spot (that I've been to) per neighbourhood. Every place is unique in its own way and I highly recommend you trying them all without exception ;)
So here it goes:
Sant Antoni: Federal Café. It was probably the first café which offered brunch in the City and to date is still one of my fav spots. It is a café with two floors and a super cute terrace on the top floor, which is opened even during winter times. Just to make you feel at home, they provide you with blankets in case you get cold too! Amazing. And of course, the food is incredible. In terms of budget, consider yourself spending about 15-20€ depending on how much you want to eat. They've got the whole deal, from muesli to eggs benedict, burgers or more healthy choices such as avocado on toast or salads. Little tip: save a bit of space for dessert, they are indrecibly yummy!
Gòtic: The Benedict. This place made me feel like being back in England. Its atmosphere is so cozy and there isn't much light so it looks like a pub on the inside. The time we went there it was super packed and it took a long time to be served. However, the comfort food was very yummy and considering its location and price it was a very nice choice for a sunday afternoon. Consider spending about 10-20€
Born: Picnic Restaurant. O-M-G. This is a fairly new restaurant which I recently tried with my girlfriends and I was well impressed. It's a family-run business and you can tell all food is home made. Their menu isn't vast but that's something I particularly like. We pretty much tried every single dish on the menu and paid less than 25€. I'd say on a regular basis you could spend 10-20€, we just got too excited. The starters are superb (they've got fried green tomatoes that are to die for) and the mains range from the classic egg benedits to more different dishes such as duck hash or pulled pork. Although the place is small, it has a terrace and the service is super friendly. Loved it!
Central: Teresa Carles. Apparently this place has been going on for ages but I just recently discovered it. Veggie lovers, this is your place. A spot for either brunch or lunch, you'll find the mediterranian diet in every one of their dishes. The food is freshly cooked, its location couldn't be better and the place is very nice and spacious. Probably the only thing I'd suggest is to book in advance! It's usually rammed...Oh and in terms of cost I'd say about 20€
Sant Gervasi - Galvany: Meatpacking Bistro
For those who can't be bothered to go downtown and want to stay calmed in their own neighbourhood, this is the perfect place to have brunch. Although it's mainly burgers and salads for the healthy option, it is a very funky place with an american vibe that I wouldn't miss. Once again I'd say average price for a good meal would be about 20€.
Have a nice weekend and Bon Appetit my friends!
