/Meet Blanca Pérez-Cabrero, the young and successful spanish designer behind BPCR Collections. Eventhough she just started working on her second collection just now, all bloggers (and its minions) are trying to score on of their infamous pants in their closet. Make sure you keep an eye on her!
Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? How old are you?
I´m from Barcelona and I´m 25 years old. I studied fashion design at the Instituto Europeo di Design and now I´m working as stylist in Mango while working hard on my own brand, which started while I was studying Fashion.
When was “BPCR”, the brand, born? Did you always wanted to be a fashion designer or is it more of a side-project?
BPCR was born when I started to have some knowledge about sowing. In my opinion, there wasn't anything different from the high-street everybody was shopping, so it was time to create something unique that people could afford and wear.
I always knew I would do something in fashion, it was just a matter of time it actually happened. I have plenty of drawings from when I was a child, and they are so funny!
Where do you get your inspirations for your designs?
I check a lot of inspo sites: tumblr, pinterest, style.com and Vogue...But I design what comes to my mind, and most importantly, what I would like to wear. I'd never copy anything I´ve seen, because that ain't fun!
Also, I am quite a night person, so a lot of my designs ideas come to me at bed time, when I´m alone and nothing is disturbing me.
If you had to chose a designer to wear, which one would it be?
That's a tough one! I can't really pick just one. Every designer collection is different. Sometimes I love a shoe from a brand but then I love a dress from another... I guess I particularly like designers like Céline, Chloé, Joseph, Iro, JW Anderson, Josep Font, Teresa Helbig... but seriously, there are so many!
Which item from BPCR is your favourite this season?
The must-have item this season is a two-colour dress. It is so super fresh and summery! Simple but suggestive, what else?
In your opinion, what works best to make a brand like yours more successful?
From my experience I can say that you need to be in social media, now more than ever. It is crucial to be known and talked about in magazines, blogs, IG...and never double-think about what people are gonna say or think. Work hard in showing your brand as much as you can.
Have you ever wondered about having your own store?
Sure! But what I´m thinking about first is to have my own online store. BPCR is a small brand as of now, and this is the way how people around the world can know about it.
But what I also want in a future is to have a little showroom in Barcelona, where I could have an atelier with some sewers and also clients could come an try my pieces before making their final purchase.
What’s next? What are your future plans?
I´m already working on the A/W16-17 Collection! And I am also looking to participate in some markets around Spain. Let's see how it goes! My hope is to have BPCR's website running by 2017 and then maybe in 2018 I can have the showroom-atelier!
