Urban Ruffles

HELL YES! What I like to call Baroque (or maybe Victorian style?) is back in trend this FW15 and its been spotted for SS16 too! Get ready to see me ruling ruffles all over the place ladies. I'm going to play as if George Washington and their fellas were back in town!

Probably considered a man-repeller outfit, ruffles are not made for everybody. Having said that, when have I listened to the majority? I love it. The designers love it. The Industry loves it. So what else would I possibly need? More over, the good thing about having a style you like in trend is that it will be much easier for you to find not only the designer collections (beautiful yet not affordable for many) but also their high-street version. Woop Woop! My whole ouftit is from H&M, actually :)

As part of my usual style -mix & match and lots of colour, please- I came up with the idea of mixing a green skirt with a bright burgundy & gold embroided jumper, pulling out my beloved ruffles from my shirt. Very proud of my new glasses acquisition too! I think I could pull out the sexy secretary look...if I wanted?

Whether they’re framing the face or spiraling off the hips, architectural ruffles build the foundation of a dramatic look. These stiff, austere waves are more modern than the floppier furls of past.

Designers indulged their fanciful side as they added frills, flounces and ruffles to even the most classic of shapes. Dresses, skirts, tops and pants received these girly additions — some delicate and restrained, others bold and dramatic — all adding charm to the season.
